Demigod pretty much continues from where its predecessor Zoz Kia Cultus left of however Demigod seem even more advanced and complex than the aforementioned Zoz Kia Cultus and thereby lifting the music to an higher level of perfection. The band does little to hide their obvious adoration for death metal heavyweights Morbid Angel and Nile. But Behemoth has a uniqueness that allows them to get away with this without displaying themselves as being just another clone.

Nergal & co have really outdone themselves in moulding and perfecting something as brutal and yet beautiful as this. Each song has a complexity and intensity that is not very common these days. This album simply got it all from fast and brutal parts to slower mid-tempo-like excesses over to acoustic passages and not to forget the majestic leads that are steering towards the divine. But what really takes this effort to a superior level is the grandiose and epic laden passages that from time to time appears within the wide-ranging framework of Demigod.

Songs like the titletrack "Demigod", "The Nephilim Rising", "Xul" ["Xul" features a guest appearance by Nile main man Karl Sanders] and last but not least the majestic closer "The Reign ov Shemsu-Hor" are the ones that stand out but the remaining tracks are worthwhile and leaves very little or nothing to be desired. Demigod is a refreshing breath in an otherwise often stale and idealess genre.
