A simple black and white photocopy type of booklet usually says a lot about the quality of the content on a CD and it sure isn't any different with the American trio Sarafan. The band plays some truly uninteresting and noisy grindcore. The trio is apparently inspired by combos such as Pig Destroyer, Nasum and Napalm Death, but I really don't hear this. The six songs on the demo is fundamentally a blurry mess of thin guitars, drums and vocals. It's very chaotic and uncharming. Of course the extremely thin and poor sound on the demo doesn't do the music any justice whatsoever and this is perhaps also why the songs themselves don't seem too good either. There are no catchy details or diversity to provide the music with the faintest tad of strength. It's apparent that the Sarafan need to focus on getting a better sound next time otherwise their hard work is a total waste.
