SCID is a two-piece German goregrind band featuring members from Embedded and Vaginal Incest. Fucked Beyond Recognition is a mixed bag of goodies. It contains new material as well as the 2004 EP Recockize, but you never really notice it is two different recordings, even though there's a slight difference in sound.

The music is not the typical hyperblast goregrind. It's still mostly quite fast, but there's a bit more melody a la later day Carcass in the songs than what you usually hear in this genre. It's nice to hear a band that doesn't just go for all-out brutality. It definitely works as an asset. The music is still relentless violent, but the stint of melody and groove makes it a little different from the vast majority of releases. The band does a good job in keeping the music varied without becoming too mellow or slow.

I found most of the songs to be quite catchy, but particularly "Fucked Up Beyond all Recognition", "Cumplicated" and "Queen for a Day, Cunt for a Lifetime" appeared worthwhile. If you're looking for something brutal, but still with a bit of melody then Fucked Beyond Recognition is not the worst place to look.
