04. Necrophilistic Art

The Danish metal scene is more alive and kicking than ever before and new bands come along all the time. However, Odense-based death metallers Spectral Mortuary who include Exmortem drummer Morten Siersbęk isn't exactly that new in the game as they've been around since 2003 and have a demo prior to Necrophilistic Art in their luggage. Musically the band leans mostly toward the American death metal scene. Spectral Mortuary appears to be inspired by for instance Malevolent Creation and Deicide, not to mention Vomitory from hinsidan.

The music is very much old school death metal, but I seem to spot a few references to Slayer in both "Choked in Anal Soil" and "Weapon of Ass Destruction". The band has a good ear for writing songs with a bit of melody. This comes to show in "P.M.S. [Prime Murder Suspect]" and "Weapon of Ass Destruction". The songs are varied, but mostly kept in the faster end of the scale. Spectral Mortuary do slow down a little once in a while which clearly adds to the diversity of the songs.

Necrophilistic Art is a demo that is pretty hard to avoid if you like your death metal to be filthy and old school.
