Los Asesinos del Sur is the latest full-length by the Polish band Stillborn. The music is a mixture of death and black metal. The band doesn't try anything that hasn't already been done, but the music is vigorous and that is what matters. I spot a bit of Behemoth and Vader in the song-writing, but it's nothing that is too obvious.

The songs are diverse and well-written. I like that there's lot of different things going on. The riffs and parts are solid. That is what makes Los Asesinos del Sur interesting .There's a nice mixture of the fast, the slow and also the heavy in the music. In spite of that the songs often have a clear black metal kind of feel to it, like on "Blood and Dust", "Kot Wolanda" or "Los Asesinos del Sur".

The vocals are a raspy death metal type of vocal. Like much of the music there's nothing uncommon about that, but it works just like it should. The production is another thing that profits the music. It's dirty, thick and burly, but without loosing the black metal side of the music.

Los Asesinos del Sur is a diverse and strong effort. It may not be anything out of the usual, but if you like riff driven death metal mixed with bits and pieces of black metal then Los Asesinos del Sur is just what you need.
