I didn't like Zen and the Art of Total Fucking Destruction much and so I expected nothing from Peace, Love and Total Fucking Destruction, but things have changed for the better. The music sounds like it maybe would if Rage Against The Machine went grindcore. Okay, that might be stretching things a little, but there are certain similarities which is pretty obvious on "Let the Children Name Themselves". The music in general also have a more punk-like feel and even somewhat slightly psychedelic now and then. It's relatively entertaining, but without ever becoming total genius. Like previously Total Fucking Destruction experiments quite a lot, but on the whole they've become better songwriters.
The songs on Peace, Love and Total Fucking Destruction are more diverse and opposite to earlier also memorable. The band does blast a lot, but in general the music feels loose and relaxed - it works alright, but it's not something that exactly makes Peace, Love and Total Fucking Destruction ooze of brutality and energy. The Americans mix in a good doze of humour and irony as well - it fits the mood of the music and makes it all seem unpretentious. Total Fucking Destruction has with their spastic grindcore found their niche in the genre, but without being too different from a lot of other bands. The music Total Fucking Destruction makes is not for everyone, but if you're open for something a little atypical then Peace, Love and Total Fucking Destruction is not so bad after all.
