I know that Total Fucking Destruction features Brutal Truth drummer Rich Hoak, but that's about it. Judging from what the band come up with on Zen and the Art of Total Fucking Destruction it doesn't appear as if I've missed out on much. The band plays a very noisy and experimental type of grindcore. It's definitely different from the more common kind of grindcore I'm used to. There are some uplifting things here and there on Zen and the Art of Total Fucking Destruction, but in general it's hard to say something positive about what the band is doing.

The music is chaotic and there is really no catchiness at all. Often it sounds like noise just for the sake of making noise. It just makes it very tiring to listen to. But in particular the four acoustic tracks seem indifferent. Sure they are funny hearing once or twice, but after that they just get plain annoying. Another thing that definitely doesn't contribute positively to the overall impression is the thin and hollow production. It makes the songs sound thin and demo-like. Bottom line is that there's no charm or nerve in what the Americans are doing. If you like experimental music then you might like this, but they lost me almost at the beginning.
