I freely admit that I had never heard of Trauma prior to getting DetermiNation, but the Poles have been around one way or the other since 1988 and released more than a handful of CD's by now. This most certainly can be heard as music sound both tight and diverse. The music is typical Polish death metal and the similarities with Decapitated and Behemoth definitely aren't far away. The songs are well put together both in terms of diversity and catchiness. Nothing appears left to coincidences. Everything seems controlled into the smallest detail.
It immediately becomes clear that Trauma have a good ear for writing some catchy material and it really comes to show in tracks like "The Solitude Remains", "As Never Before" and the titletrack "DetermiNation". It doesn't hurt either that the unit adds some tasteful solos now and then, like for instance in "Wings of Frustration" and "An Act of Providence". It's hard to find any negative about DetermiNation. It is death metal of a high calibre and fans of Decapitated, Behemoth or Polish death metal in general can safely invest in DetermiNation as it's about as good as it gets.
