Usually I dislike computer drums a lot, but Unburied have programmed theirs well. Still you notice them right away and particularly the odd beat in "Love for Dismemberment" gives it away. Musically this two-man band sound like so much else. There's really nothing that set them apart from any other band. The music is death metal, fairly varied death metal that is. The two wackos know how to keep things varied by slowing down a bit or gearing up when necessary. But what is a major contributor to spoiling the experience is the production. Often the guitar is placed to high in the mix and thus drowning most of what else is going on. Unburied are not bad, but on the other hand they are nothing special either.

Seeking Obscure is a one-man project. Musically we're talking death metal, but there are clearly more to the music that just that. Rob Luckie obviously draws on a variety of influences. The music is well-played, but the songs get a little one-tracked after a while. Also I really dislike the massive use of samples in two of the songs. It works well to a degree in "Contorted Mortality", but in "Hybrid Artillery" it just gets way too much and totally spoils the song. Seeking Obscure finish it all of with a rendition of the Cancer tune "Die! Die!". This doesn't really add or withdraw anything. There's not much to come after on this split, but each band do have its moment so if you're looking for some deep underground stuff then this may be worth a closer look.
