There's no doubt that the Swedish grindcore band Nasum has left its imprint on many bands and grindcore in general. The four-piece broke up in early 2005 as a result of guitarist/vocalist Mieszko Talarczyk's tragic death in the Tsunami that hit Asia in December 2004. This was a too early and unjust end for one of the biggest bands in the genre.

Power It Up Records have done a fine job with this tribute. The artwork is nice and the amount of bands featured is noteworthy. 53 bands in total and some of the bigger names like Misery Index, Coldworker, Rotten Sound, Putrescence and Mumakil is amongst the 53 that pay tribute. It's nice to hear how each band put their stamp on the Nasum songs. Most of the songs are not just an anonymous note for note copy. That amongst other thing is what makes A Tribute to Nasum exciting.

The tracklist is diverse and gets around most of the bands releases although I do miss "Scoop" from the 2003 CD Helvete. I find it a little odd that no band has taken on that song as it's one of the best that Nasum wrote. This is by far the best tribute CD I've heard to date and if you're a Nasum fan then A Tribute to Nasum is difficult to avoid.
