Brutal Junkies is a three band split CD from Skull Fucked Productions and frankly I'm not that impressed. First up is German deathgrindes Cynical Bastard. The music is very standard and not the least exciting. The music is for the most kept in a very moderate pace and it gets boring after two songs. The production is not that good either, it sounds muddy and without any punch. The band does show teeth with "Death is the Only Way", but as a whole this is very mediocre. Mediocre is also exactly what Unformed is. This French outfit play some very standard and unimaginative deathgrind. The production is horrible. It's thin and demo-like. The music is fairly varied, but nevertheless quite boring and despite several listens I couldn't find anything memorable. I'm sure a better production would have made this a bit more interesting, but then again it wouldn't change the fact Unformed don't have a whole lot to offer.

A lot to offer may be exaggerating a little, but Gastrick Burst is actually the best of the three. These French grinders play some varied deathgrind, but again like with the other two bands the production is the weakest spot. The production is thin and makes the music sound powerless and without any real punch, nevertheless the songs are still fairly memorable, but without ever getting overwhelming. So in conclusion Brutal Junkies is a very mediocre release that do have a few moments here and there, but it never really gets exciting too listen to.
