I'm not that familiar with the previous material from death metallers Vile, but The New Age of Chaos is not quite as brutal as I expected it to be. It sounds like the band has made quite a change in direction from the previous album Depopulate to The New Age of Chaos. The songs are well-written, but without ever being really intriguing. Style wise Vile is now comparable to a band like Malevolent Creation, but with some occasional references to Monstrosity, but this without ever sounding the same. The music is bass driven, and the guitar often sounds weak compared to the drums and the bass. It's like it's been placed a tad too low in the mix. The guitar sound really lacks the punch that having a second one provides.

The songs are mostly kept in tradition with the obligatory blast beat outbursts once in a while. Despite several listens The New Age of Chaos, never become quite the experience that I had hoped for. There are still plenty of solid tracks like "Sentenced to Live", "Suicide Warfare" and "Ritual Decapitation" not to mention the title track which all help take The New Age of Chaos one step further up the ladder, but The New Age of Chaos never really become very exciting ,and even some good songs don't change that impression.
