Silvottuna ja Häpäistynä wasn't a demo that appealed greatly to my liking so I didn't expect much of Ydin's newest demo Saasta. I'll be the first to admit that the band has taken a huge leap forward. Contrary to Silvottuna ja Häpäistynä the Finns are on Saasta able to convey their ideas in a way that the outcome become far more interesting. The music is not radically different from what the band has done before, but everything just makes more sense on Saasta.

Like on Silvottuna ja Häpäistynä the songs are sung in Finnish and that is good. It may be a tiny, but nonetheless noticeable thing that helps set Ydin apart from most other bands. The production is very good. The sound is meaty, but a little dry. The bass is audible and has that chunky Eaten Back to Life era Cannibal Corpse type of ring to it. No doubt that Ydin have come a long way with Saasta so it will be interesting to see how far they can push it on the next release.
