Once I saw the name Zombie Ritual I instantly thought this would be total old school Death [the band] worship because of the similarity with the name of the classic song from Chuck Schuldiner [RIP] and Co but this is definitely not the case and I'm seriously not very fond of what Japanese gore deathters Zombie Ritual has to offer. Their very simplistic death metal does have a certain charm at least during the first few spins but the more you listen to the album the duller it becomes. One of the reasons for this is because of the tincan drumming which is kept in a very monotone pace but also the remaining parts of the music sound very uninspired and alike.

The best tracks are "Zom-Beer", "Zombie Axe Massacre", the titletrack and "Die Zombie Die" but it's too few to keep the album interesting for more than a couple of spins. The production itself doesn't do the music much justice either. It sounds like it was recorded in a basement so the guitars and drums come across as sounding thin and without any punch and this is really where my biggest problem with this record is. Occasionally the band show some decent ideas but unfortunately it never really manifest in anything that becomes overly interesting so if you demand the slightest from your purchases then I would pass on this one.
